OK, so this is my first post! I want to start by introducing myself. I have been deliberating over what I should write about and how I wanted to come across in this journal for ages. I’ve decided that I would love this to be a place where I can be a little informal and showcase more of the day-to-day life of a florist, and a behind the scenes look at what happens at Roses and Twine, from consultation meetings to choosing the flowers to creating the designs for weddings and events.
I’m Alessia, and I have been a florist for a little over three years. I've been working in busy florist shops in the heart of London and my passion for creating with florals has grown and grown. Although I love what I do day-to-day, creating bouquets and arrangements for trendy interior designers and fashion
shoots, what I really love is being able to connect individually with my clients, and create florals designed specifically with someone in mind.
Roses and Twine is an idea I have had in my head for a while. Planning, designing and styling florals for weddings and events has been a little dream of mine. After successfully designing and creating florals for several weddings, I felt a real buzz and determination to transition this passion into something bigger. But let's be honest... I'm still learning how to put a business together! There are so many desicions to make and steps you have to take to actually make a dream a fully functional business. It was a scary thought in the begining.
As I'm slowly making progress, I thought it would be a good idea to share my hopes, desicions, successes and inevitable failures. I'm hoping that by sharing this journey, I will help not only me and my little business, but others who have a little dream that they want to turn into a reality.
2016 is going to be a big year for Roses and Twine. At the moment, this is just a small business but it has a big heart. Drive, determination and passion for what I do comes across in everything I make, whether it's a small little bunch of blooms or big, beautiful and grand weddings. In 2016, I'm hoping that more people will be able to see that. I've got quite a few weddings in the pipeline and I'm so excited and raring to go. So... watch this space....
